The creation process of making a Space Marine is quite long, and impressive. The Space Marine undergoes a long process of implants and new organs, but the Space Marine learns most/all of its knowlege from the gene seed. I dont know all that much about gene seeds but I'll try to explain. A gene seed is where all the training in weapons, science, warfare etc... is stored this gene seed is prob the size of a peanut or smaller, the gene seed is implanted into the Space Marine, until they learn all they can from it, then it is removed and used on another Space Marine. There are 19 differant gene seeds, each chapter(A chapter is a differant grouping of Space Marines eg. Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Dark Angels...) has a differant seed, and the implanting process in differant in all/olmost all chapters. There are 19 differant implants the Space Marine can undergo, but "Many Chapters have existed for thousands of years. During that time, gene-seed belonging to some Chapters has mutated. This has resulted in changes in the exact nature of the artificially cultured organs. Such changes may sometimes make an implant useless. In other circumstances, changes in an organ might reduce its effectiveness or cause strange new effects. Whatever the result, it will affect the entire Chapter - all Space Marines belonging to a Chapter share implants cultured from the same original gene-seed." If anyone can explaine more than me please the stage is yours. go here -----> www.wendndom.karoo.net/background/40k/marines/spacemarine.htm to learn about gene seeds and the 19 differant implants, quite a read. ;D

The Gene Seed is the base DNA code used in the creation of Space Marine. Space Marines are n't burn like normal, but instead grown in a vat from the DNA of the creater of the chapter.

That is true for olmost all chapters except for Blood Angels, read about them here ---> www.dragonrealm.com/exlibrismortis/ and search for "The Blood Angels also grew to incorporate a new position within their ranks" excluding the ""

first off a gene seed doesnt give a space marine any knowledge.their tought all that from chaplins.space marine arnt grown in tubes theres born like every other human and are like every other human.the chapters draft kids between the age of 8 to 10 because at the age of 10 they have to have the first implant in.the chapters get their gene seed from the space marine themselves.the space marine have two gene seeds growing in them, one is in the back of the neck and the other is in the chest cavity.

Right that the Space Marine doesn't learn everything from the Gene seed. But the Gene seed is not an implant. The Gene seed is the genetic building block for the Space Marine, and each chapter has it's own Gene seed to build from. The Gane seed is the DNA taken from the first of the chapter, all the physical charactristics of the marines in that chapter come's from the gene seed....ever wounder way there are vertualy no females in the space marine legions?
Take note that most of the training that space marine receive from the chapleins is the Imperium doctrien and releign not warfare. Space marine are more of a "Paladin" then a grunt. Spacific warfare training may be taught later or on the field. A space marine once the implant stage's are done is sent strieght to combat.

a gene seed is what allows all other genetic mods. to function.without it space wolfs wouldnt have fangs. the gene seed teaches the marine nothing. the gene seed is like a organ its not there dna its just some thing that allows new organs to work. also 10% of a chapters collected gene seed must go to earth to be checked for mutations, and when the emperor deems it necsecarry they take similar gene seeds and create a new chapter.

wait i thought space wolfs dont get their fangs from the gene seed mutation or modification, they get their long teeth from a ritual where they pull out ur normal canine teeth and put longer ones in.

Space Wolfs mutate more then just their teeth into a canine state. Take a look at the lost Space Wolf sub chapter in the Eye of Terror resource.

and the space wolfs recrutes are considerd dead before the recruters revive them... they usualy go to a battle and watch for the best fighters.. if they are slane they are chosen.. i htought that was cool, and in sure all the different chapters do their own thing...

About the topic here. I'm thinking we all might be right. What I know of the Space Marines histary and stuff is of older source books. I started playing around 7 years ago, you all started relitively this year.
Story and histary might have been changed over time. I don't read much of the back ground stuff unless I'm REALLY bored and can't go anywhere.
