We are in need of more people that not only can do 3D modeling but have the means to do so.
We are also in the need for more people that can do textureing and skinning....this is not the same as 2D art but is accomplished the same way.
We are in need of people that can do 3D animation...creating a 3D model takes one kind of software, getting it to move takes another.
We are need of more people that know how to modify text based files.

All 2D work you should know well what is out there, and these most everyone can easily get....not one I've seen cost more then $150. The 3D stuff can get upto $5k and 4 months training.
Well these different kinds of quality in the different levels of the software. One program may not be the best for another.
Gmax...this is a watered down version of 3D Studio Max, Gmax is also a free down load.
Malk Shape..yet another free down load for #d work, but not as high qual as Gmax.
3D Studio Max...This is what most devlopers use when makeing their 3D models. This one is pricey and may requrie some training to fully use.
Auto-CAD...not used as much for 3D modeling, but can still do it as if not more effectively. This does require training of at least 2 months and of course pricey.
------
Not too sure on the 3D animation software, but all of the above side maybe the 3D Studio Max can not do the animation.

I think pretty much any 3d program can do animation, ones I know of 4 sure are Milkshape, Gmax, 3d Studio Max, and Maya I think. But if your just going to be modding dungeon Siege it is prob. best just to get Gmax.
